The first Keith Note
Everything and nothing starts here
Hello
You’re probably here because you already enjoy Fitbatweets in some way. Or maybe you have no idea what Fitbatweets is. It doesn’t matter either way, I’m delighted you’re here.
The idea behind Keith Notes is to share cartoon thoughts, musings and experiences with you that are about everything and nothing (except football because Fitbatweets covers that). My brain is like a washing machine with a max load of fog in it so better to get these things out than leave them in. To start with I’m going to post every weekend so you can take it all in like a weekend newspaper. I’ll be drawing in my sketchbook every day and then taking the “best” of them and putting them together in a most likely haphazard way to mirror my brain jumping from one subject to another. I’ll also be drawing in different styles which I like to do a wee bit on Fitbatweets but I’m really open to here.
See what I mean.
If you like what you see then I would love you to become a paying subscriber as there will be a paywall from the next post onwards. That’s because I think what I do is worth paying for and there should be no shame in that.
Until the end of the month you can subscribe for a year for just £24 if you use this link button thing.
These three hangers on are with me constantly. The quiet angel who gives me positive affirmations to ignore, the devil that is my bastard of an inner critic and Mr Blue my ever present cloud of depression, anxiety and borderline personality disorder. I will post about mental health sometimes as it affects my week. I’ve been taking medication for years which tries to regulate everything but doesn’t always work (particularly this time of year). It kind of numbs the edges but doesn’t stop episodes occurring. I hope that I draw about it in a relatable way that helps in some form.
That would have been a better ending eh. Not that I was particularly invested though.
Along with the mood dives I’ve had some form of the lurgy since before Christmas. Every time it goes it wants to come back the little fucker.
I’ve still got two wee Christmas trees outside the house with calming lights on. The rest of the house hate them but I’m enjoying them and they haven’t shed any pricklies yet. It won’t last much longer I’m sure.
Has it ever been off? An almost daily occurrence this which I’m sure you can relate to especially if you live in the North East of Scotland. During all this our heating packed in and we had an engineer round three times to try and fix it.
Not complaining though as I was brought up with minimal heating so I just layer up as appropriate.
Well it never rains but it pours or something. I’ve had severe knee knack since early January which has left me pretty much housebound this month as it got progressively worse. It’s getting seen to and I’m on drugs for it and waiting on the physio waiting list which will no doubt be ages long.
That’s all a bit dour Keith. Tell us something more uplifting.
When the knee was a bit calmer in January I managed to go to a gig for the first time in years. I went to see two Edinburgh bands Axis and Pusher at this haunted pub on Niddry Street.
I’ve never been able to play a musical instrument other than in my dreams.
Hard rock, stoner rock, doom and metal is my thing.
Call me The Hairless Headbanger.
Look! It’s a prototype for Claudia Winkleman’s gravestone.
I’ve been watching a lot of Winter Olympics. I have zero interest in winter sports myself, family skiing holidays and all that kind of thing. No way. And I think that’s why I admire the lads and lassies who perform at the Olympics. They are thrilling to watch (apart from the curlers). Here’s a wee look at what I’ve been watching. What’s your favourite winter sport?
Okay, that’s it for me for this first Keith Note. I hope you found something in it you liked and that you’ll stick around. It would be nice to build this up from scratch. That’s my challenge.
Cheers
Keith

Your so right about the weather, it’s underestimated what it does to the average person, I sat in the garden on Saturday, albeit layered up big time, just to get some sun on my face, keep drawing, it’s good for the head 😉✊🏻
It sure is.
